Tragedy at the Picnic Area: Two Children Drown in a Channel

A heartbreaking incident took place on May 4th at the picnic area in Osmanbey Neighborhood.

Rüveyda Demir and İbrahim Halil Kılıç, who went on a picnic with their families, were seen struggling in the irrigation channel. Onlookers, who realized that the two children, who were cousins and did not know how to swim, were in trouble, pulled them out of the water.

Despite being rushed to Harran University Hospital by the emergency medical teams, the two children could not be saved. The aunt buried her nephews after the autopsies.

As the investigation continues, it was revealed that on the day of the incident, İbrahim Halil Kılıç started walking along the edge of the irrigation channel, lost his balance, fell into the water, and his cousin Rüveyda Demir reached out to save him. Unfortunately, they were both swept away by the current.
